Speaking to the Eldoret East DCI officer Mr Kingi, Kinuthia claimed that he had invested money in the relationship with Ivy Wangeci but she did not reciprocate as he had expected. Kimuthia Njahi further explained that before the murder happened, he ha sent Ms Wangeci an unspecified amount of money that she was to use for her birthday party, which was on 10th April, one day shy of her gruesome murder.

Birthday money

Kinuthia claims that after sending Wangeci the birthday money, she never responded to several of his phone calls, prompting him to travel all the way from Thika to Eldoret in a bid to understand why his alleged girlfriend wasn’t talking to him.

According to the statement given to the DCI office in Eldoret, things got out of hand for the two when the Moi University student of medicine switched off her phone, angering the alleged boyfriend to an extend of him contemplating to kill her.

Kinuthia narrates that he got infuriated by Wangeci’s choice to not respond to his calls and to further switch off her phone; prompting him to purchase the killer axe in Eldoret and have it sharpened for his evil mission.
