DP Ruto on Monday committed to ensure SMEs get 40% of government contracts in a new mechanism
In an early morning meeting with the Kenya Federation of Master Builders, the deputy president said the the business environment is now conducive.
Mechanisms to boost business
DP Ruto confirmed that the government has put in place mechanisms to boost the Small and Micro- Enterprise businesses for prosperity. This, he said, has been done through creation of a conducive climate for the SME’s to operate, thrive and spur development.
He further mentioned that this will result in creation of wealth and jobs in the country.
Credit Guarantee Scheme
The SMEs will also be accessed to affordable loans through credit for business growth. The deputy president affirmed that under the Credit Guarantee Scheme, all Small and Micro Enterprise businesses will be able to seize business opportunities and conduct business with the government; covering the 40% government contracts reserved for the sector.
The deputy president was meeting the sector representatives at his Karen office in Nairobi County on Monday morning.
