Lightning injures a student in Teso South, Busia County

Lighting struck Apokor Vocational Training Centre in Teso South Sub County of Busia County Tuesday afternoon injuring one student.  The student was under a shelter at around 4:00 pm with the others at the institute when the lightning struck; injuring her.
The Bsuia County Executive Committee Member for Education and Vocational Training, Mr John Mwami confirmed the incident and informed residents that the student had been rushed to the nearby Amukura Mission hospital; wishing the injured student quick recovery.
The CEC, in a follow up speech promised to work closely with the county ministry of Lands and Urban planning the lightning prone areas in the county are well installed with lightning arrestors to prevent such incidences going forward.

After a long period of drought and dust, parts of Busia County have received some rain this week, accompanied by lightning and thunder.
Busia residents are encouraged to take safe cover during the heavy rains which are expected to continue through the month of April.
