A bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Nambale in Busia County has revealed plans by the church to build a home for the old aged members of the society in the region.
According to the church’s leadership, the region has seen a lot of relatives migrate from their homes in search of income and jobs, leaving many of their old aged folks at home in loneliness with no one to talk to. Much of this solitude states have left many of the aged members of the society in depression which many at times leads to their untimely death.
The church also revealed that they have been running a such a project in Samia area of Busia County where they have over 500 old aged people that require their services, hence the need to build such a home.
The elders home is expected to be build around Mundika area of Busia and when operational, will bring together hundreds of elders from different areas. They will then be well taken care of, as they build and live in a supportive community of caretakers and their own selves; ensuring a better way for them to live through their grey years.
It is not yet clear on the modalities the church will use to admit the old aged members of the society into the home and they did not at the time of this publication, mention if the families of the elders will pay an fees to have their relatives admitted at the home.
