The Parliament of Kenya through the National Youth office and the nominated member of parliament for the youth Honourable Gideon Keter has announced a competition for the development of a public participation Application that will automate the process of public participation in national assembly business of the house.
The application, once developed will help easily engage members of the public, enabling them to air their views and contributions to all activities of the parliament, as stated in the Constitution of Kenya 2010.
The competition officially kicked off on Monday 25th of March 2019 with a preliminary registration process that will be live for 30 days, up until the 25th of April 2019; all applications into the competition will only be received within this period.
After closure of applications, there will be a panel sitting for two weeks to review the submitted ideas and pick the best 10 ideas for the next step. The top ten applicants will then be invited to a parliamentary briefing during which they will be given full details on the project.
The top 10 selected applicants will then have a maximum of 4 weeks to develop the complete application as required and present it to designated panel of project judges and media for selection of the winner.
The App Development competition is expected to come to an end on the 6th of June 2019, during which final presentations will be made and the project winner announced.

- 9th May- Top 10 entrants announced and invited for briefing at The Parliament
- 6th June 2019- Final presentation and winner announced
All Kenyan citizens of ages between 18 to 35 years, with a strong background in mobile and web application development are encouraged to apply
Requirements for participation in the App Development Competition
For one to participate in the competition, they must fulfill the minimum requirements listed below:
- Must Be A Kenyan Citizen
- A youth Of ages Between 18-35
- Have a Background in Web & App Development
Participants can apply either as individual entrants or in teams of not more than 3 people.
They will be expected to submit a one page write-up of their project in pdf format as part of the application.

The competition has been approved and given a go ahead by both the national Government and the Senate.
Both bodies agreed on the option of having a competition instead of a tender application in order to help capture the innovation of Kenyan youth in the field of ICT.
