Everton shutters Man-U’s hopes for top 4 with 4:0

Everton FC produced a performance of the lifetime by hammering Manchester United 4:0 to darken the red devils top four finish hopes on Sunday at Goodison Park.

The home side went ahead 12 minutes into the game courtesy of Richardson’s clever chip that caught De Gea helpless between Utd’s sticks.
Everton could extend their lead on the 27th minute mark through Gylfi Sigurdsson who fired home a low clever shot that left De Gea once again staring at the swinging nets in disbelief.

Man Utd looked clueless for the better part of first half as their main men upfront showed no signs of staging any comeback in reduction of the two nil first stanza deficit.

Shortly after the breather, Lucas Digne stroke from close range to hand Marko Silva’s men a comfortable 3:0 cushion lead in the 55th minute, rubbing more salt to Utd’s painful wound.

In the 63rd minute, Theo Walcott wrapped up the 4:0 thumping to the 20 time premier league champions with a composed finish after beating Manchester United’s Spanish shot stopper on a one on one scenario.
It is apparently a heavy defeat for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s club at a critical moment when pressure mounts for him to guide Utd back to the top four slot.

The Old Trafford side remains stuck in 6th position with 63 points as the quest to play in next season’s UEFA Champions League seems to be hitting a snag by the day.

It is evidently turning out to be a hard task for the Norwegian manager just five months after assuming his coaching roles at the club on a winning streak. He has however lost six out of the last eight outings in all competitions so far, something that has again left many pondering whether he is in a capacity to get the Manchester big guns back on track.

Meanwhile, there have been speculations linking  Paul Pogba to Spanish giants Real Madrid at the end of the current campaign and Solskjaer had a saying on the same and the best position the French World Cup winner is suitable.

”Everyone has got an opinion on Paul. And of course, together with Paul, we have sat down and discussed his positioning. We know he can play as number 10 or six ,we know he can play in probably his preferred position as one of the three in midfield -high like he did for us at the beginning as he has done with Juventus,” said Solskjaer.

Paul Pogba’s stay at Old Trafford next season could be determined by Manchester United’s  participation in the world’s most elite clubs contest  come next round.
