Interior PS explains DP Ruto’s security mishap

The Interior PS Karanja Kibicho has added his vice to the ongoing conversations around DP Ruto’s security. In his statement, the PS revealed that incident that saw Deputy President William Ruto attend a public finction without roper security and with key Government officials wasn’t the government’s doing.

Speaking during an interview, PS Kibicho refuted popular claims that the DP security deatil had been withdrawn. He stated that it’s impossible to downgrade the security detail of a Deputy president in office. .

According to the PS, a protocol hitch is to blame for the DP Ruto’s security mishap. He explained that the DP handlers failed to furnish the Interior Ministry with details of Ruto’s travel plan. This made it impossible for prior security planing for the event in Nyeri.

DP Ruto arrived at the event in Nyeri only to find no government official in place. The police who rushed to the venue after learning of his presence found the event done. The deputy President had already left.

“Officers had been deployed to cover the Huduma Namba registration and when they learnt of his (Deputy President’s) arrival, they rushed to the scene but arrived when he had already left. It was a brief function,” the PS clarified.
