The Miss Ateker Teso 2019 beauty contest went down at Amagoro town, Teso North sub-county of Busia County on the evening of Saturday 6th April 2019. The event brought toether eight contestants from Tes regions of Kenya and Uganda, aimed at identifying the overall Miss Ataker Teso region that will represent the Teso at the major Miss Ateker event later in theyear.
As the models showacsed their talents and brains, it was evident that the competition was getting tight and the judges clearly had an uhill task in getting the region’s crown bearer.
Afreter several hours of the battle of beauty and brains, the 22- year old Kenyan, Ms Hellen Ajulu from Katelenyang’ village in Teso South Sub-coutny of Busi County was announced and crownd the overall winner Miss Ateker teso 2019 winner.
Hellen Ajulu is also the current Miss Ateker Teso South, took over the crown from the outgoing Miss Ataker 2018 one Alamo Winny Oprah from Uganda. She beat the other seven contestants to become the new Miss Ateker Teso.
Miss Hellen Ajulu, who is also a receptionist at AIG Insurance Kenya, in Westlands Nairobi committed to taking the modelling talent to the next level, in a bid to promote girl-child empoerwmwnt and prevent unplanned pregnancies in the region.
Miss Nelly Asere Opollo from Teso North came in second place as the First Runners up for the crown while the Uganda teacher Dalfin Agwang was announced the second runners up.
Miss Nelly Opollo, the third year student at University of Nairobi pursuing Bachelor of Arts in Political Science Public Administration, Tourism and Performing Arts committed to conducting motivational talks in schools around the region to empower more youths.
Busia County Governor Sospeter Ojaamong who coyuldn’t make it to the event was represented by The Roads County Executive Mr. Okwara Ekirapa. He presented awards to the pageant winner in the following catergoires;
- Sh10, 000 to the Miss Ateker winner
- Sh7, 000 to the first runners up
- Sh3000 to the second runners up
Other guests present include The Iteso Cultural Union Prime Minister Paul Sande Emolot, Busia County First Lady Judy Ojaamong, Roads Executive Okwara Ekirapa, MCAs Angela Nafula, Bernard Papa, Nancy Okademi, Cynthia Mutere, Patrick Omanyala, Director Emuria FM Radio Johnrich Kasiba and former Miss Tourism Busia County Leah Oscars Otsyula.
