The Foreign Affairs Chief Administrative Secretary Hon. Ababu Namwamba has expressed his disappointment with the Kenyans and media over Kenyan Teacher Peter Tabichi’s win of the Global Teacher Prize 2019.

Speaking in his backyard of Busia County, Ababu Namwamba expressed his disappointment at how Kenyans and mainstream media chose to cover the news of Teacher Peter Tabichi’s Global Prize win.

The Cheif Administrative Secretary used the opportunity to appreciate the work done by teachers in Kenya, calling upon every member of the society to recognize and appreciate teachers.

He further called upon leaders in the country to prioritize education over everything else; in funding, policy and actions. He emphasized the need to place an irreducible minimum on education in our society today.

He cited a personal example mentioning that his personal mentor during his days at school and at the moment has always been a teacher.  He challenged everyone to change their attitudes about teachers and give teachers the prominence they deserve.
