Uchumi supermarket seems to be on the loosing end just few months after setting pace for great improvement.
Eight months ago Uchumi welcomed a new Chief Operating officer named Mr Willy Kimani. This was seen as a good move to have the unstable supermarket chain regain its long lost status.
However, in a surprising turn of events, Mr Willy Kimani has left Uchumi for Naivas Supermarket, where he departed eight months ago.
To confirm that things may not be so rosy at Uchumi, the Chief Executive Officer Dr Julius Kipng’etich has also left to join Mr Kimani at Naivas Supermarket. Mr Kipng’etich joined uchumi in September 2015 from equity Bank. He was seen as a significant figure that would help revamp Uchumi and have it attain its lost glory.
Mr Willy Kimani, who was at Naivas previously as the head of Marketing before he joined Uchumi now comes back as the Chief Commercial Officer. He is expected to manage Naivas’ commercial strategy in a bid to increase revenue.
