With less than 15 months to the 2017 general elections, campaigns for the gubernatorial seat in Busia County are slowly taking shape.
Several government officials who have shown interest to unseat the current governor Sospeter Ojaamong are utilizing weekends to seek support.
Kenya County News has established that the candidates are getting deep into the villages to support small projects in a bid to win people’s hearts.
Sunday12th June was a busy day for two of these candidates:
Mr Lucas Meso, who is the managing director of Agricultural Finance Corporation Kenya was on the ground.
Earlier Sunday he was at Sigalame High School in Funyula Constituency where he laid a foundation for a classroom.
He further promised 100 bags of cement to support completion of the project.
This comes few days after he commissioned the construction of a class at Matili primary school in Nambale Constituency.
The gubernatorial candidate has been active in initiating education projects in the County in what looks like a bid to lure electorates to his camp.
The sitting Busia County Governor Sospeter Ojaamong was at Mundere Catholic church in Bunyala Sub-county in a fundraising drive for completion of church construction. he was accompanied by the County First Lady Judy Onamu Ojaamong.
Ojaamong is expected to defend his gubernatorial seat in the next general elections under the ODM party ticket.
Other candidates eyeing the seat include Daniel Barasa, Paul Otuoma and Vincent Sidai.
