Senior members of Cord coalition especially from ODM Party on Monday shied off anti-Iebc demonstration organised by County ODM chair who is also Matayos MP Geoffrey Odanga, ODM County secretary Innocent Oluku and Busia County Women Rep Hon. Florence Mutua.
Hon. Odanga yesterday agreed with governor Ojaamong that they would hold the demo today.
A reliable source told this Page that Odanga went to the governor’s house in Busia town today at seven in the morning but was told by house help that the governor was still asleep.
The MP went back to check on the governor at nine so that they could discuss about the demo but he was again told that the governor was still asleep.
The governor was not picking phone calls while his driver and bodyguard were in the vehicle packed outside his house for all that time.
Odanga decided to proceed with the demo without the governor.
Other senior Cord members in the county were conspicuously absent.
They were led by Busia County ODM coordinator nominated MCA Nur Mohammed, Busia County Assembly majority leader Josephat Wandera and Deputy Governor Kizito Wangalwa.
Almost all Busia County assembly MCAs were elected and nominated on Cord ticket but only nominated MCA Monica Mung’ala showed up at today’s demonstration which was declared by Cord principals Hon. Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula.
This even as fears have started emerging that there is a rift in ODM party in Busia county which is linked to 2017 politics.
Budalangi MP Ababu Namwamba who is also ODM Secretary General and Funyula MP Dr. Paul Otuoma who is ODM National Vice Chair in recent days have harshly criticised Busia County governor Sospeter Ojaamong of what they termed as non performance.
Otuoma and Ojaamong are both eying ODM ticket which they intend to use next year, Ojaamong seeking reelection for second term while Otuoma seek to oust Ojaamong and be the second governor of Busia county.
