Busia County government on Monday launched an automated revenue collection platform. This is expected to increase revenue collection by double or eve triple.
Busia county Finance executive Leonard Ombibira said manual collection of revenue has stagnated the revenue which has been Sh320 million annually in the last two years.
“With the new system in place, we have set a target of Sh1 billion. Automation will be done in Matayos, Bunyala, Samia, Nambale, Butula, Teso North and Teso South subcounties. The new system is already operational in Matayos, and will be rolled out in Teso North in a week. The remaining sub counties will have the new system shortly after,” he said.
Ombibira said Busia is the third county after Kiambu and Taita Taveta to automate its system developed at Strathmore University. “Busia residents should appreciate the changes and look forward to better service delivery collection,” he said
