Some 1,809 students from Busia county will get education loans.
The beneficiaries have been earmarked to receive the fund, but their names are yet to be verified by the oversight committee at the county.
County Education and Vocational Training chief officer Joel Barua said funds will be in their accounts by April 30. Barua dismissed social media reports that the Revolving Fund is a white elephant, saying those are rumours from those who want to politicise the exercise. The chief officer yesterday said Helb has done its part. ”
The county government has allocated Sh55 million for the same, Sh27 million has already been remitted to Helb. The remaining Sh28 million will be released soon,” Barua said.
He said the remmitance of the Sh27 million confirms the commitment of the county government to finance students from the county in colleges and universities.
